7 Hot Tips for Instagram

So you want to create a stunning Instagram feed, showcase your business and brand, and get more followers and engagement?

Here are 7 essential tips that you can implement right away!

Quality images

This may be a no-brainer to some, but I cannot stress enough the importance of having high quality imagery that is on-brand. Do your images complement the story you are telling? Do they showcase your products or services in a way that amplifies them?

Aesthetic

The look of your Instagram feed needs to be cohesive and consistent. That doesn’t mean the content needs to look exactly the same, but Instagram is known as the social media platform of visual expression – so a visual aesthetic that is, again, on-brand, and pleasing to the eye is crucial to success on Insta.

Optimise your bio

Summarise you and/or your business in the bio in the most effective, succinct way. Who are you and what do you do? Add emojis, add keywords related to your niche to help people find you, add a link to your website, or a link to your latest blog post. Even better, add a Call to Action if you can fit one in.

Frequency

Want to help ramp up your following? You need to be posting at least once per day. Need help deciding when the best time is to post? Switch your account to a Business profile so you can see when your followers are online.

Engagement

Want people to engage more with your page? Then you need to be engaging with other pages too! Commenting and liking photos related to your niche (pro-tip: engage with followers of your competitor’s pages). Search for hashtags in your niche and get specific.

Hash tags

Now I know that some people roll their eyes at the very thought of hash tagging, but these are an important part of the Instagram algorithm (and way of life!). Research shows that the optimum number of hashtags is 11. But I recommend using up to 30 (the maximum you’re allowed) in order to increase reach / the possibility of being seen.

Follow/unfollow

Okay, some may disapprove of this method. But I’m going to mention it anyway as I think a little follow/unfollow is okay if used in MODERATION – and it’s particularly useful for when you’ve just started a page and/or you’re trying to grow to your first few hundred followers. It’s when you follow some pages, and if they don’t follow you back within a couple of days, you unfollow them again. Again, a little bit of this here and there is okay. Some people hate it, some people love it. But the option is there!
