“Content Creation” – What it is & why you need it

So you’ve done a bit of googling for social media marketing tips and what you should be doing on your business’ Facebook page. The terms “content” and “content creation” keep popping up. Okay, cool… But what does it even mean??

Marketing can be full of buzz words, but content creation is something that is super important in your marketing strategy!

What is it??

Content can be defined as a piece of information, or something that you’ve produced, that you share on your social platforms. It seeks to either educate, entertain, engage, or persuade your audience (or all 4!).

Content can come in many forms – videos, blog posts, images, graphics, infographics, slideshows, emails, audio, podcasts, long-form text, short-form text, GIFs, memes, e-books, whitepapers, lead magnets like PDFs… pick your poison!

Content creation vs. content curation

“Content creation” is when you create your own original content. For example, a short promotional video for your business. “Content curation” is when you find and share content from other people / sources. For example, a blog post from your favourite online magazine.

Creating (and curating) a wide variety of content for your audience to consume is important in a successful social media marketing strategy.

Benefits

Some of the many benefits of quality content is that it helps build trust with your followers and in turn position you/your business as a thought-leader and authority in your niche. It encourages and increases engagement from your followers, and helps drive traffic to your website!

So what kind of content do you think you could implement into your social media marketing strategy??
